Why??? -because everyone wants that bright white smile Cosmetic Dentistry is helping improve peoples appearance and boosting their self confidence! Bridges and Crowns: A dental crown, sometimes called a cap, completely covers your damaged tooth. It is cemented into place and offers a strong, solid, good-looking replacement for a natural tooth. A crown is created in a lab and is made from models your dentist makes with impressions, so it fits your mouth perfectly; replicating the shape, size and position of your severely damaged tooth. Theres so many different varities of procedures for cosmetic dentistry and these are just a few. People seek cosmetic dentistry for a variety of reasons. Some people simply want to look younger, and cosmetic dentistry is like a dental facelift that can quickly "reverse" the natural aging process of the teeth. Others, the majority, have had unattractive teeth their whole lives and have always felt self-conscious because of them. They will rarely smile, which can often hide a warm side of their personality. Cosmetic dentistry is boosing confidence and selfesteem one tooth at a time! :) THE END!!!! :D BY: Gabrielle Rose Hunt Cosmetic Dentistry! :) people with an overgrowth of gums over their teeth have this option of cosmetic dentistry. If their gums are over their teeth it can make the teeth apear short or small. Orthodontics is another form of cosmetic dentistry, teeth that are uneven are not esthetically pleasing! Dentures: Replacing missing teeth is another form of cosmetic dentistry. Fillings Composite is a filling material that is made to match the patients tooth shade. It's more esthetically pleasing because if looks very natural and many people cant even tell that its not. Contouring the gingival tissue Closing Gaps/ Diastema veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth's surface from damage. Veneers whitening / bleaching Having a whiter smile can alter somenes apperance and their confidence! Whitening services are provided by the dental profession and is often done by the assistant. Transcript: Composite bonding refers to the repair of decayed, damaged or discolored teeth using material that resembles the color of tooth enamel. Your dentist drills out the tooth decay and applies the composite onto the tooth's surface, then "sculpts" it into the right shape before curing it with a high-intensity light. Bonding is one of the least expensive cosmetic dentistry procedures available to patients with tooth decay, chipped or cracked teeth and worn-down edges. Typically manufactured from medical-grade ceramic, dental veneers are made individually for each patient to resemble one's natural teeth. They look exceptionally realistic and can resolve numerous cosmetic problems, ranging from crooked teeth, to cracked or damaged enamel to noticeable gaps between two teeth. The dentist applies the veneer to the front of each tooth using a dental adhesive. Cosmetic Dentistry generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person's teeth, gums, and/or bite. Works Cited Dental implants are used to replace teeth after tooth loss. The dentist inserts a small titanium screw into the jaw at the site of the missing tooth, which serves as the support for a crown. These implants are almost indistinguishable from the surrounding natural teeth, and once the bone and supporting tissue fuse to the implant, they are permanently secured into place. Patients need to practice diligent oral hygiene during the implant placement period to clean plaque and food debris from the area. Teeth Whitening Why is it Used One of the most basic cosmetic dentistry procedures, teeth whitening or teeth bleaching can be performed at your dentist's office. Whitening should occur after plaque, tartar and other debris are cleaned from the surface of each tooth, restoring their natural appearance. Teeth can also be bleached to achieve an even lighter shade than this original color Over the years, teeth become stained and worn from food, drinks, medication and personal habits such as smoking. Whitening coats the teeth and this procedure can be done in the dental office or at home. Additionally, patients can use toothpastes such as Colgate® Optic White® Platinum to achieve the same effect in a one to two week period. Additionally Implants Indirect fillings which are used when a tooth has mild to moderate decay or there is not enough tooth structure to support a filling. Provided there is no damage to the tooth cusps, the inlay is placed directly onto the tooth surface. When the cusp or a greater portion of the tooth is damaged, however, an onlay is used instead to cover the tooth's entire surface. They're made with composite resin material and attached to the teeth with adhesive dental cement. They provide support to strengthen teeth, restore their shape and avoid any further decay or deterioration. 1. What are Inlays and onlays? 2. Which procedure is made to resemble your individual teeth? 3. What is one of the cheapest cosmetic procedures? 4. Which procedure can be performed at home? 5.
