That's There Climate/ Biome Vegetation - Warm and wet climate. - Average temperature is above 20*C - Gets about 250-450cm (8-14ft) rain per year. - Black Panthers live in Tropical rainforests, marshlands, woodlands, swamps, savannahs, mountains and desserts. - Monkeys, bats and birds. - All of the animals that were just listed eat mostly fruits and seeds and live mostly in trees. - Important because, some of the animals that are endangered of going extinct could actually go extinct which could also mean prey for the Black Panther is limited. * That means that there's a bigger danger of the Black Panther going endangered. Other Species In That Biome Katie Iaquinto Becoming Endangered? - They are becoming endangered because of the humans making their way into the forests - The humans/ bulldozers tear down the trees - When they tear down the trees they tear down the wildlife with it * That means that the animals, animals food sources, their habitats and much more are all torn down. - Dense forests * Camouflage - Many trees, where the Black Panthers are often spotted - Bushes and shrubs on/ close to ground *Camouflage - 30 species of trees range 40 to 100 are common. - 300 species are unknown

Transcript: Black Panthers Diet Black Panthers eat deer, warthogs, wild goats, birds, reptiles, fish, and rabbits. They also eat grass, eggs, and occasionally fruit. Habitat Rain forest, marshland, woodlands, swamps, savannahs, mountains, and deserts. Survival Black Panthers can survive almost anywhere, but humans are the main reason of a dwindling population. Farmers sometimes kill black panthers and mercury and chemicals in the environment harm them. Unique Features and Specialties Black Panthers are long and slender with short legs and ears. Males usually weigh 120-170 pounds, females usually weigh around 80-120 pounds. Reasons for Endangerment Some farmers trap and kill panthers. Panthers can practically adjust to any environment, this is why scientists are puzzled. Chemicals in the ground also harm and kill panthers. Biome The black panther lives in the rainforest biome. Large amount of life disapears in the rainforest everyday. 7,000 miles of rainforest is lost everyday. There is an uncountable number of organisms living in the rainforest. It has 3 layers, undercarpet, carpet, and the umbrella. Rainforests lose life everyday, some we don't even know about. Problems in the Biome People chop down rainforests everyday. It is a terrible deed and needs to be stopped immediately. Everyday we lose another species to a rainforests being cut down. It is awful! Improving or Decreasing? The Panther Population is at the lowest point. Population has made great progress and is improving everyday The panther population was a hard one to find, but what I could find was a good news. The panther population is doing extremely well and isn't quite where it should be, but is doing suprisingly well. Efforts to save panthers There are several efforts to save the black panther. People everywhere are starting organizations to save this large feline. The world wildlife fund also tries to save this species from extinction. Conclusion... In conclusion, I believe the black panthers will soon be returning to a healthy number. I believe the black panthers will be out of the endangerd and even threatened category soon. Transcript: Black panthers are technically not their own species. They are made up of melanistic big cats, including jaguars, cougars, and ocelots. The distinctive black coloring is caused by a recessive allele. All black panthers are considered generic members of the genus panthera... ...family felidae... ...order carnivora... ...class mammalia... ...phylum chordata.. ... and Kingdom Animalia For the most part panthers do not interact with humans, unless they are in zoos. Habitat Black panther can be found in South America and on the west coast of the U.S. They live in forested areas, where their dark fur fits in the the shadowed undergrowth. Reproduction Panthers reach sexual maturity around the age of 2. Mating can happen at any time of the year, and because panthers are on their own most of the year the female will make sawing noises and leave scent markings to attract a mate. With that being said, I believe there are many species of animals in the world that have yet to be discovered and the Panther is among one of those species.
